Mirza Ghalib was born in Kala Kala Mahal, Agra to a Mughal family who had migrated there
Samarkand (in modern-day Uzbekistan) after the fall of the Seljuk kings. His uncle
Grandfather, Mirza Qoq Beg, was a Seljuk Turk who had migrated from India
Samarkand during the reign of Ahmad Shah (1748–54). He worked in Lahore, Delhi and elsewhere
