《填海》文字游戏简单来说，就是「词语接龙」，是一套以下棋方式，和对手轮流填上词语，夺取分数的游戏，开始填上第一个词语之后，每一步都需要接驳上一步的词语，可以连接一个字，也可以同时连接多于一个字。填了八十八个字之后，得到高分者为胜。

玩家按照成绩会被分配到四大级别，成绩最优秀者为「状元进士级」，其次为「会元贡士级」，再次者为「解元举人级」，最后是「寒酸秀才级」。四大级别以对手为比较，用特定的方程式分配，随着玩家的成绩高低起跌，玩家也会被安排到相应的级别，可以晋级也可以降级。
