Al-Barzanji adalah kitab karangan “Syekh Ja’far bin Husain bin Abdul Karim al-Barzanji”. Beliau lahir di Madinah tahun 1690 M, dan wafat tahun 1766 M. Barzanji berasal dari nama suatu daerah di Kurdikistan Barzinj. Sebenarnya, kitab tersebut berjudul ‘Iqd al-jawahir (kalung permata), tapi kemudian lebih terkenal dengan sebutan al-barzanji.
Kitab tersebut, menceritakan tentang sejarah Nabi Muhammad yang mencakup silsilahnya, perjalanan hidup semasa kecil, remaja, menginjak dewasa hingga diangkat menjadi Rasul. Selain itu, juga menyebutkan sifat-sifat Rasul, keistimewaan-keistimewaan dan berbagai peristiwa yang bisa dijadikan teladan bagi umat manusia. Dengan bahasa dan sastra yang tinggi menjadikan kitab ini enak dibaca.
